A Unified Voice for School Counseling Advocacy

At The Institute for School Counseling Advocacy & Research (ISCAR), we translate high-level improvement science into actionable strategies that unite researchers, practitioners, and policymakers in a shared commitment to professional excellence and student success.

The Mission:
A Professional Identity, Reclaimed.

For too long, the school counseling profession has been defined by those outside of it—leading to role ambiguity, inconsistent impact, and systemic invisibility. When the voice of the counselor is fragmented, the advocacy for the student is weakened.

ISCAR is the unifying force. We believe that the path to systemic change starts with a clear, evidence-based professional identity. By synthesizing high-level research into a cohesive advocacy language, we help the education sector see school counselors for who they truly are: strategic leaders of student success. We provide the data-backed narratives and professional development that transform “invisible work” into a visible, indispensable cornerstone of educational policy.

School Districts

Defining the Role. We provide the professional development and administrator-collaboration frameworks (such as the 80/20 rule) to eliminate role ambiguity and maximize impact.

University Research

The Practice Pipeline. We partner with university researchers to translate conceptual manuscripts and data into “Monday-morning-ready” tools for the frontline.

Legislation & Policy

Quantifying the ROI. We provide the data-backed narratives and evidence-based briefs needed to defend counseling positions and influence state-level educational policy.

Non-Profits & Community

Strategic Synergy. We align community resources with school-based goals, creating a unified ecosystem of support for every student’s journey.
